If you haven’t been living under a rock all this time, then you would have heard of the new iPad, that’s what Apple’s calling the newest version of its hit tablet device. The device which was first unveiled on March 7, 2012, is a true powerhouse, probably the most technology advanced tablet ever. Apple has surely took its merry time to figure out what needs to be in the new iPad to keep it relevant, but also keeping the price at the same level as the iPad 2 when it was first released.
The new iPad sports a revolutionary display that is capable of displaying HD content at 2048×1536 resolution, a never before seen in tablets. At Mobile World Congress 2012, Asus wowed the crowd with its Asus Transformer Prime HD tablet that supports up to 1920×1200 resolution, nothing compared to what the new iPad offers, and that is the best display on any Android tablet to date, not even the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 comes close.
That said, it doesn’t mean no Android tablet is capable of giving the new iPad a run for its money. We doubt Apple will have the same runaway success it had last year, competitors are catching up and with Windows 8 prepping to drop like a bomb in 2012, Apple and its iPad is in for some serious competition going into 2013.
Time to look at our 4 top Android tablets that have what it takes to make Apple tremble a little bit.
Asus Transformer Prime HD
At the top of the list sits the Asus Transformer Prime, a device that doubles as a tablet and a laptop, considering you have the additional dock to make it truly transform. This beauty is rocking Android 4.0, a Quad Core processor, and a 10.1-inch HD display. On the back lies an 8 megapixel camera, can’t see the use for it, but there you go nonetheless.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is another tablet Apple needs to keep an eye on. This beautiful toy may not be the most powerful tablet out there, but it comes packed with a stylus and that is ok for us. The stylus allows the user to draw with precision, something users cannot do on the new iPad. Another feature we like, is the option to view two windows side by side, something we’ve only seen in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Not a powerful device compared to others out there, but its usability that counts over raw power.
acer Iconia Tab A700
Another awesome Android tablet capable of walking with the new iPad in the heavens is the acer Iconia Tab A700. This bad boy is pure beast, with its Quad Core processor, Android 4.0, and 10,1-inch display, the acer Iconia Tab A700 is more than up to the task.
Fujitsu ARROWS Tab
Now we have entered the bottom of the pile. Here lies the Fujitsu ARROWS Tab, an Android based tablet that is able to sail through the waves like a surfer on steroids. The edges on this tablet is sealed with some form of waterproof elements, and along with its 10.1-inch display, this tablet could prove useful in wet areas.
